Vaira Inta Pelekis-Christopher
Vaira Inta Pelekis-Christopher
I have always supported projects related to Latvia, especially those relating to education. Ever since my retirement in 1995, I have worked intensely with charity projects (medical, church, foster homes, scholarships etc.). In 2006, on my 70th birthday, I decided to found the Karlis Pelekis scholarship, in honor of my father, the first person in my family to have graduated from university. This was a fact he was very proud of.”
The Ira Kuhn-Bolsaitis honorary scholarship was established in 2019 with the support of Vaira Inta Pelekis-Christopher, a board member of the Friends of the University of Latvia and LU patron, to commemorate her dear friend Ira Kuhn-Bolsaitis (1937-2018) and her talent in linguistics.
